Are you looking to DIY a Shoot A Ball Game? I’m excited to share my project with you!
My son’s first birthday party was a Circus/Carnival theme and I wanted to have a variety of games the kids could play and win tickets. I narrowed down to 5 games that were budget-friendly to DIY.
The only item I had to purchase was the water guns. All the other supplies we had at home. If you do not have certain supplies such as a wooden stand or golf t’s, you can use other items such as styrofoam or cardboard to replace the wooden stand, round toilet paper/paper towel rolls to replace the golf t’s and nerf gun to replace the water guns.
You also do not need 8 ping pong balls/golf t’s. You can narrow it down to 4 or 6. Whichever you prefer OR depending on how many of these items you have at home. Here is how I made the game:
Supplies:
- 2 Water Guns
- 8 Ping Pong Balls
- 8 Golf Tee’s
- Wooden Stand
- Hammer and Nails
My husband always has extra wood at home, so we built the wooden stand. The size of the stand was 12″ W x 12″ H. *Make sure there is enough spacing between the top and the bottom to place the balls on the golf tees.
We then nailed the wooden stand together and hammered in the golf tee’s 4 on top, 4 on the bottom.
My husband spray painted the stand with spray paint we had leftover from a ring toss game we put together. You don’t have to paint/spray paint – up to you! We kept it pretty simple and easy.
I purchased two water guns because it made it easier to have a backup gun already filled with water in case the first ran out. It helped keep the game running smoothly. I found the water guns at the dollar store for $1 each. *I couldn’t find any on the dollar store site for you, however, I found some at Five Below that are currently out of stock. Just an idea for you to see what kind I used!
*The sign taped to the game was to let the guests know the name of the game, the directions on “how to play” and how many tickets they would win. I quickly made the sign in photoshop but you can use Paint, MS Word, any type of program that allows you to type.
- Name of Game: Shoot A Ball
- Instructions: Shoot all 3 balls with the water gun to win 2 tickets
- Tickets Won: 2
I hope this encourages you to create your own shoot a ball game, even if it isn’t for a circus/carnival theme party. Don’t be afraid to challenge yourself because you will be surprised by how well your project turns out. Just stay focused and be patient.
